Senior Marketing Executive, East Grinstead, B2B Publishing, £28-30K plus bonus

Our client is a well established and highly regarded independent media company who produce editorially driven B2B titles, on line information, exhibitions, conferences and awards in an interesting and robust market place.

They are now looking for an expereinced Senior Marketing Executive to work within the marketing department and also the conference team and run email campaigns for the conference and events team.

Job Summary:

  • To Plan & execute marketing campaigns for conferences that achieve delegate revenue targets and maxmise ROI
  • To oversee the execution of targeted email, direct mail, digital, social and telemarketing campaigns
  • To ensure all marketing is delivered in line with the companies brands positions, ethos & strategy
  • To work with the Head of Brand Marketing and portfolio to ensure conference campaign data selection and list building is conducted in line with  with brands’ data strategy To create new and improve existing processes for campaign testing and analysisTo devise effective processes for cross promotion of non-conference productsTo help continue and build deep relationships with the companies customersTo work as part of a team whilst still using your own initiative to make decisions and come up with great ideas.

Key activities:

Campaign Planning

  • Receive a briefing from the Event Producer to understand the value proposition and target audience
  • Research and analyse key competitor events
  • Produce a strategic marketing plan detailsing even KPI’s and outlining how the marketing activity will deliver them. Present the strategic marketing plan to all relevant even stakeholders
  • Produce a targeted marketing communications plan for each event, to include DM, eDM, website , telemarketing, advertising, marketing partnerships, social media and PR as appropriate
  • Develop a marketing timeline for each event, ensuring optimum lead times for each element of the campaign

Prospect Data Selection and Management:

  • Work with the Data Team to select relevant prospect data from the marketing databases using analysis of previous campaigns where appropriate
  • Identify data gaps
  • Seek new sources of prospect data for list research and brief the Data Team thoroughly on requirements
  • Investigate and utilise external data sources where appropriate
  • Ensure all data build is aligned with brands’ wider data strategy
  • Ensure that prospect lists are targeted and are a balanced reflection of the event’s target audience profile


  • Identify potential supporting partners
  • Approach and negotiate beneficial terms with key partners
  • Work with Head of Brand Marketing to coordinate brand-wide agreements where appropriate

Social and SEO Campaigns:

  • Work with the Event Producer to plan and deliver effective social media campaigns
  • Set appropriate Twitter hashtags for each event
  • Monitor social activity and respond to posts where appropriate
  • Organise the design of supporting images for social campaigns
  • Plan effective PPC campaigns (including Google and LinkedIn)


  • Select and provide relevnat call lists for the telemarketing team
  • Work with the Event Producer to ensure telemarketers are given a thorough brief
  • Work with the Membership Manager to monitor and react to telemarketer feedback and performance

Campaign Delivery and Analysis:

  • Work with Events Executive to ensure campaigns are executed in a timely fashion and that the marketing timeline is kept updated at all times
  • Track the performance of all marketing channels on an ongoing basis, including interpretation of campaign results and proactively reviewing tactical plans
  • Manage a process for ongoing testing
  • Create/proof marketing collateral, adhering to brand guidelines and write copy as required
  • Devise campaigns promoting press attendance where appropriate and collate post-event coverage
  • Prepare a full post-event marketing report within 4 weeks of each event
  • Devise new commercially viable ideas to improve marketing campaigns
  • Ensure all marketing campaigns are delivered within the pre-agreed budget


  • Proven track record of delivering B2B marketing campaigns, ideally within events
