An exciting opportunity has become available for a Head of Portfolio Marketing to join a B2B Media owner based in East Grinstead. This rewarding and varied role offers the unique opportunity to take ownership of the portfolio marketing strategy and have a voice of influence in the continued growth of the business. This is newly created role working in a small and ambitious team.


To create and ensure the delivery of innovative marketing strategies and campaigns that successfully deliver the audience and commercial targets of the companies Visual Communications portfolio of events. The role includes management of a high-performing, results-focused, innovative and collaborative marketing team, and taking responsibility for ensuring team members are positive and motivated, with a deep understanding of their audiences and the most effective channels to reach them.


* Successful delivery of visitor targets (quantity and quality) for Visual Communications

* Successful delivery of lead generation targets as agreed with the Visual Communications sales


* Managing and motivating a high-performing team of Visual Communications marketers and

ensuring effective coordination of marketing activity across the Visual Communications


* Understanding the needs and wants of the target audience groups through research and

behavioural analytics, ensuring we build high quality, relevant and engaged data

* Ensuring the delivery of innovative, multi-channel marketing campaigns – supported by high

quality collateral – that deliver visitor and lead targets and elevate the perception of the companies

brands within their target audience groups

* Ensuring all marketing activity across the Visual Communications portfolio is delivered in line

with  marketing best practice, on time and to budget


Marketing planning and strategy

Developing, implementing and owning the marketing strategy for brands within the Visual

Communications portfolio, including:

* Contributing to the setting of marketing KPIs and budgets in conjunction with the Portfolio

Director and Event Director

* Effectively using market and competitor analysis to draw insights that can be applied to

optimise the performance of marketing activity and identify new business opportunities

* Formulating a plan for continuously improving marketing data quality (audience and

commercial), data acquisition and engagement

* Overseeing the creation of a comprehensive marketing communications plan for each project, to include website creation, email marketing, social and digital marketing, telemarketing, advertising, marketing partnerships and PR as appropriate Marketing execution

* Ensuring all campaigns are executed in a timely fashion and that marketing comms plans are kept updated

* Ensuring our marketing communications are accurate, engaging and relevant to their target audience – this includes proofing copy written by Marketing Executives and personally writing copy for campaigns / collateral as required

* Ensuring all marketing design is on-brand and beautifully executed

* Ensuring optimal use of marketing channels, with particular focus on effective use of social and digital marketing channels

* Proactively initiate new marketing tactics / channels

* Ensuring all marketing activity across the Visual Communications portfolio is executed in line with marketing best practice

* Hands-on development and execution of campaigns and tactical marketing as needed, in order that objectives are met

* Developing and manage supplier relationships to ensure excellent working relationships that deliver value for money Personal development

* Building a deep understanding of the Visual Communications market and the key audience segments that operate within it, to ensure tailored marketing strategies for engaging them

* Maintaining a strong understanding of industry wide marketing trends and best practise, including a strong understanding of social and digital marketing channels Coaching/delegating/managing the Visual Communications marketing team

* Setting KPIs for the team – linked to brand / product KPIs – and motivating them and managing their performance to ensure these are delivered

* Appropriately resourcing the team, including ensuring team members are deployed in appropriate roles and ensuring their priorities are being managed effectively

* Identifying skills gaps and training needs within the team and working with the Head of Marketing on plans to address these

* Ensuring the team are collaborating effectively with each other, the wider marketing team, and other key stakeholders across the wider Visual Communications team and beyond

* Effective delegation of tasks to the Visual Communications marketing team

* Involvement in the recruitment of new members of staff as required Sales Support

* Delivering a programme of sales marketing that supports the Visual Communications sales teams in meeting their objectives

* Attending client meetings with the sales teams from time to time, as required KPI / marketing analysis

* Closely monitoring KPIs to ensure brand marketing objectives are being met

* Ensuring all campaigns are being delivered on time and within the pre-agreed budget

* Ensuring detailed tracking and analysis of tactical activity, drawing insights from the results and ensuring learnings are applied to future campaigns to improve results

* Overseeing the delivery of effective and timely post-event reporting

* Initiating and overseeing effective, insightful and actionable research on our markets, audience groups and events to inform and enrich brand and marketing strategies

* Other projects or tasks as necessary from time to time
