NOW FILLED: Head of Event Management – Awards and Conferences, West Sussex: £40-45K + Bonus

As well as publishing journals and websites, our client runs a suite of almost 50 events each year with a turnover of several million pounds. From four large awards events in the food and drink sector to round tables, conferences, business days and study tours, they are clear market leaders in the events they run. In 2013 they hosted events in Singapore, Lima, Chicago, New York, Tuscany and across the UK.

Role Purpose

To provide strategic and practical leadership for the group’s diverse range of events. To manage a team of events professionals to produce well planned, exciting, must attend events. To be responsible for the generation of ideas for and the execution of new events and to ensure the longevity of sponsorship deals.

Core Responsibilities

•Manage and motivate a team of 5 events professionals including an Events Sales Manager

•Oversee the management of circa 50 events, provide management support for the largest global awards events

•Oversee sponsor management, ROI and Activation at events

•Ensure efficient events processes and procedures are in place and followed correctly

•Provide strategic development input across a selection of events

•Oversee event marketing and delegate sales (sponsorship is sold by the brand teams) Skills and experience In addition to strong B2B event management experience and excellent people management skills, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high competency in the following skills:

•Ability to communicate confidently at all levels

•Ability to get under the skin of an industry and to work closely with customers to identify new and creative ways of meeting their needs through live events.

•Experience of working with industry associations to help in the pitching process for their events

•Experience of proofing and publishing high-end event print materials, brochures and web sites.

•Experience of managing, setting and reviewing delegate/attendance sales targets

•Strong negotiation skills

•Exceptional time management and planning and meticulous attention to detail

•Ability to produce and execute event marketing plans

•Experience in managing PR

•AV company management

•Venue knowledge and selection

•Risk management

•Sponsor liaison

•Speaker management
